There are times in life when one must make a commitment. Two examples that come to mind are when you get married or when you start a diet. In both cases you begin with such hope and anticipation. You are not thinking about what could go wrong. No! You are captivated by the wonder of your new life together or fixated the thin and graceful new you.
Then comes the time when you must recommit. Maybe it comes when you marriage is seven years old or seven months old. You know the signs by what is not present. The relationship is no longer easy and carefree. Feelings of love and appreciation for the spouse are not spontaneous like they used to be. In fact, it is becoming much to easy to think of all the things you don’t like about your partner. But if you are determined to make the relationship work, at some point, you must determine that the reason to be married is not based on your feelings. A genuine commitment must be based on something larger than your feelings. The larger thing could be the children or the joint mortgage or the vows you made before God. What ever it is, this larger more compelling reason causes you to re-commit.
In terms of one’s eating habits, it is often necessary to recommit again and again. Like most relationships, the beginning days of a new “diet” are filled with a fresh motivation to succeed. No matter how many times you have begun before or failed before, there is something about starting again with a new plan and the hopes that this time things will be different.
Sacred and Fit is not a diet program, but there is a commitment requirement. The commitment is to your health and wellbeing. The commitment is to a different future…a future without obesity or obesity-related illness. A future with a vibrant and energetic you fulfilling the purpose you were placed on earth to fulfill. You have a larger reason to be healthy than to merely lose weight. You are not committed to a number on a scale
The commitment has to be bigger than the number of pounds or the BMI because there will come days, like today, when the number on the scale is larger than it was last week. There will be a temptation to forget the whole thing and devour a quart of icecream and a package of Oreos. Don’t do it! Recommit again. Recommit to your vision. Recommit to your health. Recommit to your relationship with God and a deeper understanding of the scriptures. Recommit to yourself. Recommit again.
